“In my old apartment I once noticed the edge of the door had layers upon layers of paint. Each one was a different color and that got me thinking…who lived in this space before me? Who lived here before them? What were their interests? What were their hardships? Were they happy? How might they have used this place? The layers in my art are a reflection of this moment. They contain maps, romance novels, murder mysteries, sailing guides, recycled art, paint and paper. In many respects each work is like a little window into a multifaceted world.”
